Piston Pump Selection Considerations

piston pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal reciprocates with the piston. Can be used to move liquds or compress gases. They can operate over a wide range of pressures. High pressure operation can be achieved without adversely affecting flow rate. Piston pumps can also deal with viscous media and media containing solid particles. This pump type functions through a piston cup, oscillation mechanism where down-strokes cause pressure differentials, filling of pump chambers, where up-stroke forces the pump fluid out for use. Piston pumps are often used in scenarios requiring high, consistent pressure and in water irrigation or delivery systems.

We have introduced different models of Rexroth, Kawasaki, Daikin, Eaton, Parker, Sauer and other type hydraulic piston pumps in products’ page. So, the next question is, what should you pay attention to when selecting the piston pump?

1.Determine the working condition of piston pump ‘s medium

Large particle substances are not allowed in the conveying medium of the plunger pump, otherwise it will cause work failure. For the occasions with iron pollution, stainless steel plunger pump should be used. For acidic or alkaline medium, anti-corrosion plunger should be used. Pump.

2. Determine the reasonable flow range

The pump model is nominally rated flow. The appropriate margin should be considered when selecting.

3. Determine the applicable pressure level of piston pump

The rated pressure of the plunger pump can reach 20-25MPa. When using the filter press, the variable pump should be used. The low-pressure pump should be used for the slurry to reduce waste.

4.Better big than small

After determining the above parameters, according to the principle of Better big than small, select according to the standard model of Pump.
